Art Nunz are renowned for their bad habits and spiritually promiscuity. What began as a joke in 2011, then became a serious art collective in 2013. The foundation of their membership is to marry Art publicly. These performance art rituals are public, because we are not occult. Through taking vows to dedicate their lives to Art, the Art Nunz remind us: Anything can be art. However, it depends on your level of intent. Not all effort is the highest level of intent…and therefore not all art is great. Genius, the divine power of creation, finds you when you are working. The goal is not perfection. The goal is practice. We pray for the creativity and inspiration of ourselves, all beings, and the life of our planet through our work. Art Nuns are known to be RUTHLESS. Many will sacrifice anything that gets in the way of their calling. This is how they are developing their souls on behalf of themselves and the world.

 

The Art Nunz derive inspiration from Jesus' words in the book of Thomas: "If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you." Recognizing shadow work as integral to our creative process, we strive to dig deep within ourselves to make our darkness consciousness. This driving force of greater levels of self awareness and authenticity is expressed in Sister Caritas Karate's renowned teaching: "Painting is the answer to Painting." Consequently, the nuns have forged their orthopraxy, engaging in ceaseless prayer through artistic creation. It is through the devoted investment of time and energy, akin to developing one's kung fu, that the artist discovers the kingdom of heaven within. Genius, the divine force of creation, manifests when one is immersed in studio work. As Picasso aptly expressed, "Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working."
